Advisory Initiative of the Council for Public Policy (CPP)

The OASIS Project is a community development initiative in Sri Lanka that focuses on supporting vulnerable communities through practical humanitarian and livelihood programs. The Council for Public Policy (CPP) serves as the main advisory organization for the OASIS Project, providing strategic guidance, policy insight, and development support to ensure that the project delivers sustainable and community-driven outcomes.

The advisory work of CPP on the OASIS Project is carried out under the leadership of Harim Peiris, Senior Researcher & Strategic Advisor. Through this role, CPP contributes policy expertise and strategic direction to strengthen the effectiveness, impact, and long-term sustainability of the initiative.

 

Role of CPP in the OASIS Project

As the principal advisory body, the Council for Public Policy (CPP) supports the OASIS Project by:

  • Providing strategic policy guidance for community development initiatives
  • Advising on sustainable development approaches for vulnerable communities
  • Supporting the design and implementation of social impact programs
  • Strengthening community engagement and development planning
  • Ensuring that humanitarian interventions align with long-term development goals

 

Focus Areas of the OASIS Project

With advisory support from CPP, the OASIS Project works in several key areas aimed at improving the quality of life for disadvantaged families:

Clean Water Access
Supporting the development of wells and water systems to ensure safe and reliable access to water in rural communities.

Education Support
Providing educational assistance, school supplies, and transportation support to help children from vulnerable families continue their education.

Livelihood Development
Promoting self-employment and small-scale economic activities, particularly for women-headed households and widows.

Agriculture and Food Security
Encouraging home gardening and small-scale farming initiatives that strengthen food security and family income.

Housing and Community Support
Assisting families in improving living conditions and strengthening community resilience.

 

Strategic Leadership

Under the leadership of Harim W. Peiris, CPP provides research-driven insights and strategic oversight that help guide the development direction of the OASIS Project. This advisory role ensures that the initiative is informed by sound policy perspectives while remaining responsive to the needs of communities on the ground.

Through this collaboration, the OASIS Project continues to advance its mission of empowering vulnerable communities and promoting sustainable development across Sri Lanka.
